Model United Nations Conferences

After completion of the UNA-MN Global Classrooms curriculum, students have the opportunity to participate in a Model UN Conference.  During the conferences students take the role of United Nations delegates, draft resolutions, negotiate, strategize, and formally present their country’s positions within the parameters of the U.N.’s rules of procedure.  In order to participate effectively, students must research the countries that they represent and the global issues to be addressed.

The most difficult part of preparing for a conference is learning the rules of procedure, points and motions and how to write a resolution.   For these lessons Global Classrooms provides Model UN Trainers.  The Trainers will come into your classroom to prepare your class and can even run classroom simulations. Please contact globalclassrooms@unamn.org to request a Model UN trainer.

For more information about the Global Classrooms Program and Model UN, contact Juliana Panetta, Global Classrooms Program Coordinator at julianaj@unamn.org or 612-280-8090.
