In October of 2012, Alan and his wife Deb attended the Nobel Conference at Gustavus Adolphus College concerning on the health of our oceans. Top scientists in the field were there making presentations.

Feeling inspired, Alan took an online course from MIT on the
Science of Climate Change and begin giving public education talks on the subject.

He now volunteers as a public education speaker for the Rotary and Citizens Climate Lobby, where he speaks on climate change, ocean acidification, and what each of us can do for the present and future generations.
