Our rivers are a significant part of our state’s identity. They are beautiful and inspiring…calling us to walk along their banks, fish for salmon, or explore what’s around the bend by canoe. But what is happening below the surface? To answer that question, we invited Dr. Luther Aadland to speak at a virtual presentation on November 10, 2020 entitled “Life Below Water – Restoring the Health of Our Rivers.”
Dr. Aadland is a River Scientist with the River Ecology Unit of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. In his presentation he discussed issues related to the global loss of freshwater biodiversity and efforts in Minnesota and beyond to restore the health of river systems and the recovery of rare species.
This event was part of our fall programming featuring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: #3 (Good Health and Well-Being) #13 (Climate Action) #14 (Life Below Water ) and # 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
