The UNA-MN annual meeting was held via Zoom on Saturday, January 16th from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. The meeting included reports on programs and activities in 2020 and the election of new directors and officers.
A part of the annual meeting was a panel discussion on the issues of health and wellness. Dr. Bharat Parekh, a native of India, began with a presentation on his work relating to childhood malnutrition in India, followed by Professor Tanisha Fazal from the Political Science Department at the University of Minnesota who provided updates on global coordination around COVID-19. The panel concluded with a talk by Retired Ambassador Jimmy Kolker, a former Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Global Affairs from 2011 – 2017. Ambassador Kolker discussed how the Biden Administration can move forward to address the pandemic in the US and concrete steps that need to be taken to re-establish the US role globally.
